Husky Wilderness Trek – Trails of the Past

18 km full-day hike with fire, forest history and working huskies

Join us on a guided wilderness excursion through one of Sweden’s historic forest landscapes, where traces of old rural life still remain.

This full-day journey follows ancient forest routes once used to connect remote farms and summer pastures deep in the Nordic countryside. We move through quiet valleys, old-growth forest and open marshland, where the landscape still carries signs of how people once lived with the forest.

During the day, we reach a high viewpoint where we pause for a simple outdoor meal with sweeping views over the forest ahead — a quiet moment that resets the rhythm of the hike.

The trail then continues into the Kurbergsmyrarna nature reserve, known for its wide open peatlands, silence and vast horizons. From there, we move through varied terrain toward Spjärshällen, a remote high viewpoint overlooking endless woodland.

At the summit, we gather around an open fire. Coffee is brewed over the flames and a simple fika is served while you take in the view. This is the natural peak of the day — fire, silence and landscape in one moment.

If you wish, you can hike with one of our working huskies, who help set the rhythm of the journey and create a unique connection to traditional ways of moving through the forest. This is completely optional.

After descending from the mountain, a transfer takes us back to the kennel.

The hike covers approximately 18 km and is physically demanding, but suitable for anyone with a normal level of fitness. We move in small groups to keep the experience personal and close to nature.
